A few more comments on Toledo -

This fabulous building was the former imperial residence built on Roman, Visogothic and Moorish fortresses. Franco's troups were holed up here during the Spanish Civil war in 1936. It was pretty much destroyed. Franco had it rebuilt. It will be the national military museum.

Besides missing the cathederal described by Michener we also missed Museo El Greco and "El Greco's House". It contains 20 El Greco paintings including "View of Toledo". Next time...
